Job Overview/PurposeThe external environment in relation to Operational Risk Management is largely driven by the requirements of Basel II through the local regulators in Australia, and also through the requirement of the DNB in the Netherlands.
Regulatory focus in this area is increasing. Rabobank’s ability to evidence the existence of a cohesive operational risk framework and to demonstrate the effectiveness of its implementation is key to it being able to continue to provide banking services in Australia.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
Providing oversight and challenge over the implementation of the Risk Control Framework by the 1st Line in Rabobank.
Assisting with the identification and documentation of business operational risks & controls and Key Risk Indicators (KRIs), providing insight to risk/reward profiling and enhancing risk decision making processes.
Providing advice on the management and causes of operational risk events; monitoring and reporting operational risk events and losses to the Executive, ORMC, SLF and to Operational Risk WRR (Head Office).
Providing oversight and monitoring of management’s response to Findings & Actions across Rabobank (ie 1st Line findings, 2nd line findings and IA findings) and ensuring that the 1st Line is taking appropriate steps towards resolution.
Assisting in the development of all operational risk policies, procedures and tools for RANZG and insuring that these address any specific local Rabobank requirements.
Acting as a consultant on new projects to ensure that the 1st Line has appropriate processes in place to ensure that operational risks are adequately identified, assessed and controls put in place.
Assisting the 1st Line in the transition from the current operational risk management tools and databases to Archer. This includes ensuring that the 1st Line is taking adequate steps as to the accuracy and validity of data.
Assisting in the completion of relevant/required 2nd Line reports to Boards, Committees, Group, Management and Business Units as required.
Assisting in the Management of all relevant operational risk management training and development activities, promoting risk awareness and active risk management.
Supporting (and where required assisting with) 2nd Line Control testing/monitoring.

Job Skills and Knowledge:Essential:
An understanding of Operational Risk Management within the financial services industry and related regulatory standards (Basel II and APRA Prudential Standards).
An understanding of banking and finance operations.
A knowledge of causes, influences and drivers of operational risk.
Knowledge of retail and/or wholesale banking.
Experience with operational risk systems (eg Openpages, Archer, etc)
Bachelor's Degree or International Equivalent.
Graduate Education required with preference for MBA/CA or similar post graduate knowledge
Preference for Financial, business, economics or other related undergraduate degree.
A minimum of 5 years related experience in financial services industry with focus on controls, auditing, operational risk or process engineering is considered essential.
