The Head of Partner Matters is responsible for the oversight and management of all partner matters with particular emphasis on payments and profit distribution. This role liaises with the firm's Partners, Chief Executive, Chief Operating Officer, Partnership Secretary and Financial Services team on a regular basis.
- Oversee the delivery of all Partner payments and profit distribution, including:
- Reviewing and approving all partner drawers and benefit payments
- Collaborating with the Financial Services team to provide monthly & annual cash flow forecast for all partner related payments
- Management of Partner Loan Capital
- Managing the financial on-boarding of new lateral Partner hires and new Partner promotes
- Managing Partner retirement payments
- Managing the Partner unit pool, involving long-term forecasting of weighted average units and return per unit at a firm and partner level
- Management of the annual Partner moderation process, including:
- Production and distribution of Partner financials (key metrics and other KPI's against benchmarks)
- Management of the Partner review database, in consultation with the Chief Talent Officer and Chief Operating Officer
- Collaborate with Line of Business Leaders to manage recommendations to the moderation group, who has responsibility for governance of the Partner annual contribution review process and individual profit share outcomes
- Support the moderation group in responding to Partner appeals
- Drafting of resolutions in respect of Partner profit share changes required to be approved by the Board. Drafting annual reports to Partner Contribution Committee who has responsibility for reviewing and reporting on the fairness of the process undertaken by the moderation group.
- Preparation of reports for the Board and the Partnership Services Trust as required
- Manage the Partner database (Microsoft Access) to ensure all information is entered, accurate and up to date as well as the production of reports using this information as required
- Provide input and insight into the development of key Partner metrics and produce Partner metrics to the Partnership and Leadership on an ongoing basis
- Review quarterly PAYG reports and oversee the preparation and distribution of annual distribution statements to all Partners and their beneficiaries
- Support the budget process for the Partnership, including partner units and fixed drawers and input into the Firms month end processes by reconciling information
- Work closely with the Firms Partnership Secretary and General Counsel to ensure there is consistency in the application of retirement and accession deeds
- Regularly review the Partnership agreement to ensure the firm is acting in accordance with the agreement
- Effectively manage the Partner Accountant, whom is based in Brisbane
- Ad-Hoc duties, as required, to support the firms strategic initiatives
What you need
- Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Commerce, or Finance related discipline
- CA / CPA accreditation is preferable
- Minimum 10 years' experience in Financial Planning and Analysis roles in a professional services environment
- Experience dealing with multiple and senior stakeholders in a professional services environment
- High levels of attention to detail
- Proven ability to analyst and interpret data & information
- Advanced Microsoft Office knowledge
- Experience working with and/or supporting Boards and Committees
- Ability to operate effectively in a high pressure, fast paced and changing business environment
- Strong communication and presentation skills
